Our Story

B-Women on Wings Canada International is born from the collective aspirations of immigrant women of color who sought to transcend barriers and instill purpose within the Black women community. Founded as a not-for-profit organization, our journey began with a commitment to make a meaningful difference, advocating for gender equality, community sensitization, and empowerment across generations.

Mission Vision and values

Vision

We envision a future where women of color, especially those from immigrant communities, lead the charge in societal, economic, and political transformations. In this future, their contributions are not only acknowledged but celebrated. Our ambition is to foster a world where women feel empowered, confident, and supported, thriving with purpose and passion. Achieving this vision hinges on collective action, community building, and tireless advocacy efforts.

MISSION

Our mission is to cultivate a nurturing community for women and girls, with a special focus on those from Black and immigrant backgrounds. We dedicate ourselves to providing resources, guidance, and opportunities that propel them towards personal and professional excellence. Breaking down the customs, traditions, and beliefs that impede progress, we strive to eliminate barriers that hinder women and girls from realizing their fullest potential.

Purpose

Our purpose is multi-faceted:

– To equip Black women in Canada with resources and support for skill development, confidence building, and leadership.

– To establish a safe and supportive community that facilitates connection, shared experiences, and mutual upliftment among Black women.

– To champion self-care, mental health, financial literacy, career development, and community engagement within the Black women community.

– To raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by Black women in Canada and advocate for change at individual, community, and systemic levels.

– To forge partnerships with organizations and stakeholders, amplifying the voices and perspectives of Black women.

– To celebrate the achievements and contributions of Black women, recognizing their unique strengths and talents.

– To aid Black women in overcoming systemic racism, sexism, and other forms of oppression they encounter.

– To create leadership and contribution opportunities for Black women, enabling them to shape their communities and society at large.

These objectives serve as our guiding principles, steering our programs and services towards a future where Black women in Canada are not just empowered but are thriving leaders in every facet of society. We are steadfast in our commitment to realizing these objectives and making a positive impact in the lives of Black women in Canada.
